Closed: Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA)
The headline program of the last few years closed to new registrations on June 30, 2026, with registered work to be completed by March 31, 2027. If you are registered, book your installer early. Details in our companion guide on the OHPA closure.
Open: Enhanced Energy Savings Program
For New Brunswick homeowners with combined household income under $70,000, this NB Power delivered program provides free upgrades rather than rebates: cold-climate mini-split heat pumps carrying a 10 year parts and labour warranty with three cleanings included, plus insulation for basements, attics and walls, and ventilation improvements. It works regardless of your current heating fuel. Registration is online with your notice of assessment; a pre-upgrade evaluation follows within a few weeks, and upgrade work is scheduled two to seven months after that. NB Power has been expanding the program's contractor network, and several contractors on that network are listed on this site.
Open: Total Home Energy Savings Program
The general-population route. An EnerGuide home evaluation by a certified energy advisor starts the process and identifies eligible upgrades, which can include heating systems, insulation, windows and doors. Incentives are paid per upgrade after a follow-up evaluation, and work must be completed within nine months of the initial evaluation. SaveEnergyNB publishes the current rebate schedule; amounts vary by measure and change over time, so read the current table rather than trusting any blog's numbers, including ours.
Open: other routes worth knowing
The New Home Energy Savings Program offers up to $15,000 in incentives on energy-efficient new construction. Renters can get a free Energy Savings Kit. In-store rebates apply to smaller efficiency products at participating retailers. Saint John Energy's Zero30 program rents heat pumps for a monthly fee with no upfront cost, and its materials note availability to New Brunswickers outside Saint John under program conditions. Manufacturers and distributors run their own seasonal promotions, such as Daikin Atlantic's advertised summer 2026 rebates; these stack independently of utility programs but come and go quickly.
Watch: Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program
On June 29, 2026, Ottawa announced Canada Greener Homes Affordability agreements with Quebec, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, alongside an existing partnership with Manitoba: over $500 million in combined funding to retrofit more than 35,000 low- and median-income households (Natural Resources Canada news release). As of July 6, 2026, New Brunswick was negotiating its own agreement (CBC News). If it lands, it would be the closest thing to an OHPA successor for this province. Nothing was announced as of our check date.
Practical order of operations
Check the Enhanced Energy Savings income line first, because free beats rebated. If you are above it, book the EnerGuide evaluation for Total Home before booking equipment, since evaluations gate the incentives. Get quotes from more than one installer and ask each which programs they are registered to work under. Then match equipment to a proper load calculation, covered in our sizing guide.
