Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern access to and use of provenlistings.com and its subdomains (the "Site"), operated by Proven Listings ("we", "us"). The Site is operated from New Brunswick, Canada.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Site.

2. What the Site publishes

The Site is a directory. It publishes information about businesses, together with a record of what was checked about each business, which source was checked, and the date of that check. Information is drawn from public sources, from the businesses themselves, and from the issuers of the credentials cited.

Paid placement on the Site buys presence and detail. It does not buy position: the order in which listings appear is never determined by whether a business pays, and outbound links on paid listings are marked as sponsored links.

3. Verification badges

A verification badge states that the named source confirmed the named fact on the date shown. It is not an endorsement, not a guarantee of workmanship, price, or availability, and not an approval by any government. A business registry record confirms only that the business exists under the name it trades as; it is published as an identity note and is never presented as a verification badge.

Every verification carries a date for the next check. When that date passes without a new check, the badge is withdrawn automatically and the business remains listed without one. Nothing on the Site should be relied upon as a substitute for your own enquiries before engaging a business.

4. Reviews

Reviews may be submitted through the form on a listing page. Every review is read by a person before it is published, and we may decline to publish a review, or remove one, at our discretion. By submitting a review you confirm that it describes your own genuine experience and that it is your own work, and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to publish, reproduce, and edit it for length or clarity on the Site and in the files the Site generates.

The name submitted with a review is published. The email address submitted with it is not published; it is retained so that we can reach the reviewer if the business disputes what the review says.

5. Corrections

If anything published about a business is wrong, tell us through the contact form and we will correct it or explain why we disagree. Corrections are acknowledged within five business days. A re-check is free, is never conditional on payment, and payment never influences the outcome of a check.

6. Your use of the Site

You may read, quote, and link to the Site. Automated access, including access by search engines and by AI assistants and their crawlers, is permitted subject to the Site's robots.txt file. You may not use the Site to send unsolicited commercial messages to the businesses listed on it, and you may not present the Site's content in a way that suggests a business is endorsed by us, or is verified by us, when the page for that business does not say so.

7. Reuse of the published data

The tables, findings, and downloadable files on a dataset page are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), with attribution to Proven Listings. That grant is limited to those tables, findings, and files.

All other content on the Site, including listing pages, reviews, guides, region introductions, llms.txt, and llms-full.txt, remains subject to these Terms of Use and to the Copyright Act. Quotation with attribution and a link to the page quoted is permitted; republication of the Site's content as a substitute for the Site is not.

8. Other websites

The Site links to websites operated by others, including businesses listed on it, the issuers of the credentials cited, and government pages. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their practices. You are encouraged to read the terms and privacy statements of any site you follow a link to, as they may differ from ours.

9. Disclaimer

Information at this Site, including any revisions and updates, is provided solely for general information purposes and is provided strictly "as is". While every effort is made to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the information, Proven Listings assumes no liability or responsibility for the completeness, accuracy, or usefulness of any of it, and makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, in respect of the information at this Site or the information that may be reached through links from it.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Proven Listings is not liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, arising from the use of the Site, from reliance on anything published on it, or from any dealing between you and a business listed on it. A dealing between you and a listed business is a matter between you and that business.

11. Changes to these Terms

Any substantial change to these Terms of Use will be posted on this page.

12. Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick and the laws of Canada applicable in it. The courts of New Brunswick have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
